Celebration of Music at Snape Maltings
Forty Somerleyton Primary children took to the stage at
Snape Maltings to roars from the audience, made up in part of
over 100 very enthusiastic parents and friends.
They were not disappointed, the orchestra (percussion, clarinets,
flutes and cornets) played a wartime medley beautifully and
the choir sang with clarity, it took your breath away.
'In Our Children's Eyes' ended the performance as we
celebrate 175 years of our school and look to the future.
During the performance the children recited sections from
the school log, below are some examples:
1933 School timetable cannot be strictly adhered to- as swimming lessons are governed by the tide.
1944 It was rumoured that the King was to visit. All children
went on the Green. The King arrived shortly after and
was cheered by the children as he drove past.
1947 Dentist finished after 7 days- 66 fillings,
48 extractions and 79 other operations.
The children did not disappoint and showed great skill and
courage when performing to such a large audience,
with resilience and incredible teamwork.
To arrive at such a polished performance takes a team of
teachers and would like to thank Mrs Speed-Andrews,
Mr Ollerhand, Mr Harold and Jen Cochran for their
dedication, imagination and hard work.
